NAO Landscapes delivered a rooftop garden and private outdoor amenity space on Level 56 of South Quay Plaza, a landmark residential development by Berkeley Homes in Canary Wharf. High above the city, the terrace provides residents with a distinctive setting for relaxing and entertaining, with panoramic views across London.

Our package included the construction of the private bar and terrace area, bringing together granite paving on pedestals, a living green wall and an outdoor kitchen. The combination of high-quality finishes and planting creates a sophisticated outdoor environment that complements the building’s architecture and makes the most of its elevated location.

The living wall introduces greenery into a space where conventional planting opportunities are limited. Working with specialist supplier Viritopia, NAO incorporated a 26m² exterior living wall into the rooftop landscape, adding texture and a natural focal point to the terrace.

Delivering landscape works on the 56th floor brings a different set of construction challenges from a ground-level project. Material handling, access, installation sequencing and the coordination of finishes all require careful planning. At South Quay Plaza, these considerations were central to bringing the rooftop design together within a high-rise residential development.

The completed terrace demonstrates NAO’s experience in delivering complex landscapes above ground – combining practical construction expertise with the detailed finishes and planting needed to create an exceptional resident amenity.
