NAO Landscapes delivered the rooftop garden, landscaped residential amenity spaces and children’s play area at The Stage in Shoreditch, working with O’Shea on this mixed-use development.

Our hard and soft landscaping works brought together a variety of outdoor spaces for residents to enjoy, from planted gardens and lawns to informal seating and a dedicated play area. The scheme combines practical, carefully detailed construction with planting that softens the surrounding architecture and brings greenery into the heart of the development.

A key feature is the children’s play area, where climbing equipment and a safety surface create a space for active play. Curved concrete benches provide seating nearby, while trees and surrounding planting help the play area feel part of the wider garden rather than a separate facility.

Elsewhere, timber-topped seating and steps make use of changes in level, with handrails providing access between the different areas. Resin-bound pathways connect the landscaped spaces, and Corten steel edging provides a crisp finish to planting beds and other landscape details.

The soft landscaping includes trees, ornamental grasses and flowering plants, introducing texture and seasonal interest throughout the gardens. Together with the lawns and seating areas, the planting creates a welcoming outdoor environment for play, relaxation and everyday use.

The completed scheme showcases NAO’s experience in delivering integrated rooftop and residential landscapes, combining hard landscaping, soft planting and play facilities within a complex urban development.
