A New Station Piazza at Winnersh Triangle, Reading

2023 saw NAO Landscapes complete a number of commercial landscape projects. One of the projects was the implementation of the new Station Piazza at Winnersh Triangle Business Park in Reading. NAO worked closely alongside the team at ASA Landscape Architects who had already had success in other landscape improvement projects at Winnersh Triangle. Both teams had been commissioned by Frasers Property to complete the necessary works.

Before beginning the renovation, all of the existing soft landscaping around the station area had to be removed. NAO was responsible for all aspects of the hard and soft landscaping. The hard landscaping included kerbs and paving, all of which needed to be well-illuminated for night-time train travellers. The new Station Piazza featured bespoke lighting columns, a bus shelter and seating along the retained tree avenue. The entire area has also been complemented with new ornamental planting for seasonal interest and includes plenty of street furniture and bicycle stands for travellers to make use of. The concept of the project was to create a welcoming arrival space and improve wayfinding for the many occupiers and visitors arriving by train.

Winnersh Triangle as a whole is a site committed to sustainability and is currently working towards achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2050. The initiative is aligned with science-based targets, some of which include: 100% renewable electricity procured across managed buildings, over 30% green space including nature trails, green roofs, beehives and bug hotels and rainwater management and harvesting. For the full list of targets, you can visit the sustainability page on their website.

Frasers Property UK has become the first company globally to achieve a three-star Fitwel accreditation for a business park.
