NAO Landscapes delivered an extensive hard landscaping package at Pearl Yard, Bermondsey, working with McAleer & Rushe and alongside HTA Design on this major Build-to-Rent development for Greystar.

Our works extended across every level of the development, from the public realm and communal courtyards at ground level through to podium gardens and rooftop amenity spaces. The project brought together a wide range of landscape elements to create attractive, functional outdoor environments for residents, visitors and the wider community.

The hard landscaping package included high-quality paving, communal seating areas, street furniture, fencing, gates and bespoke play features. Materials from Bradstone and AG Paving + Building Products were incorporated into the scheme, with careful attention to installation quality and the detailed interfaces between different finishes and landscape elements.

At podium and rooftop level, our team delivered hard landscaping within elevated garden and amenity spaces. These areas required careful planning around access, material movement, sequencing and coordination with other trades, ensuring the landscape works progressed alongside the wider construction programme.

The project also incorporated ecological enhancements, including insect hotels, bat boxes, bird boxes and hibernacula. These features were integrated into the wider landscape to provide opportunities for urban wildlife within the development.

As part of our wider package, NAO completed the Section 278 highway works, helping to integrate Pearl Yard with the surrounding streets and existing public realm. This required coordination between the development’s external works and the adjoining highway environment.

The first completed phase of Pearl Yard, comprising Blocks 1–5 and 359 Build-to-Rent homes, reached practical completion in June 2026. The finished landscapes demonstrate NAO’s ability to coordinate and deliver complex hard landscaping packages across multiple levels and environments, bringing together detailed construction, public realm improvements and high-quality residential amenity spaces.
